If you’re a youngin’, chances are you have absolutely no idea what it’s like to stumble upon your very first gray hair. Oh, the shock, LOL!
Covering up gray hair has been a thing for women for ages but lately, that practice is changing. Gray hair has never looked better than it does today and if you follow the #grombre trend you know exactly why.
The Grombre community online has grown over the years and women of all ages have been sharing their stories about going gray and what it took for them to finally accept it.
It’s about time we started talking about this!
Society makes women feel that gray hair is a bad sign of aging that has to be hidden at any cost.
And a lot of us fall prey to that.
I always thought going gray was something that happened when you entered your later years.
Turns out, I was wrong. Even very young people like this beautiful lady have started going gray very early in their lives and had to deal with it ever since.
Lately, hair trends have been changing and finally, gray hair is having its heyday.
Nowadays people actually pay money to dye their hair gray and it looks absolutely amazing.
If you can rock your gray hair like this, I give huge props to you.
Some people pay big bucks to dye their hair gray to look like this.
Gray hair doesn’t discriminate.
It doesn’t matter what your skin type or ethnicity is. You can still end up with a head full of gorgeous grays. This lady is living proof.
It’s amazing to see so many lovely ladies become even more confident after they have made peace with their gray hair.
It’s better to embrace it rather than fighting it.
It may take some time for people to get used to your new gray look but in the end, they will love it as much as you do.
It’s all about owning your unique beauty.
If you’re a mom, you can be an awesome example to your kids by showing them it’s okay to be who you are, gray hair and all.
Bravo!
And it’s okay if not everyone will understand why you’re doing what you’re doing as long as you feel good about it.
There’s a good reason for it.
As this lady simply points out, gray hair is not old — it’s natural and it’s beautiful.
Nobody should feel pressured to have to hide it to appease society.
Some women have even found that going gray is magical.
“I love the gray and the compliments I get. The best was when a kid in my daughter’s class asked if it was magical, like Elsa’s,” said Instagram user @iyervidya25.
And, who knows? You may actually inspire others to take the plunge and ditch the hair dye for good.
Not only is it a healthier option, but it’s beautiful too.
This woman had been dyeing her hair for 15 years.
When she stopped, she was blown away by how many compliments she got for her natural gray hair. She hasn’t dyed it since.
For many women, deciding to go gray has been freeing.
“Leaving the stress, mess and frustration of the relentless dyeing cycle behind has been incredibly freeing,” said Instagram user @baskinthegray.
Women want others to know that there’s no shame in going gray.
“It’s not easy to embrace gray hair at the age of 32, but I’m so grateful that I have. Two people close to me have died this year, including my dad, and it just reinforces that aging is a privilege to be cherished,” said Instagram user @katiefuria.
Many want to lead by example.
Boldly embracing your grays sets a good example for young women and challenges unrealistic beauty standards.
But to be honest, it doesn’t matter what the color of your natural hair is because what counts is how you feel about it inside.
You’re beautiful either way.
As someone who’s already got a fair bit of gray hair, I’m so impressed by these ladies.
They’re absolutely changing my way of looking at my own gray strands.
