It’s true: times do change, and things seldom stay the same. However, for some people, there are just some thoughts and behaviors that continue to stand true through the test of time.

We asked people on our Aunty Acid Facebook page: What can you not believe people still do in 2024? You all delivered some timeless observations that are totally engaged (and somewhat shocked) us all — and here are our top 15 picks.

1. Give up their seats for the elderly

Dylan Trammel wrote, “Make an elderly person stand instead of giving their seat, makes me sick,” which scored over 200 likes from people that share his disapproval.

Pamela Zorn Garcia replied to Trammel, saying, “I agree. It makes me very angry when I see somebody not giving their seat to an elderly person.”

2. Make fun of people with special needs

Sherrie Myers Wivell wrote, “Make fun of people with special needs,” which received 179 likes.

This inspired Sherry Gould to share her personal connection to the topic, commenting, “My late Brother was special needs. I spent my childhood defending him from playground bullies. Some adults were just as mean.”

3. Smoke cigarettes

Several people added the same one word comment, “smoke,” making it clear there’s a common disbelief that people are still smoking cigarettes in 2024 given many of the health risks.

4. Try to find that special someone

It looks like a lot of you aren’t the biggest fans of the “Happily Ever After” ending or those who still have the very magical concept of finding “the one.” Numerous people said that seeking “true love” or thinking that a special someone means endless happiness is unbelievable in 2024.

5. Go to church or pray

Many people are shocked that so many still go to church in 2024. A few people even took it a few steps further by saying that they’re shocked that people still pray and believe in God. Looks like there’s not a lot of faith in faith.

6. Go through menopause

One person was joined by over a hundred people in their collective shock that menopause is still a thing for women in 2024.

“Go through menopause we haven’t got a cure for that yet ,” they wrote.

7. Believe everything they read on the internet

Christin Sh and many other people are tired of fake news spreading all over the internet with many people latching onto whatever they read.

“Believe everything that’s on the internet,” Sh wrote.

8. Judge people for their looks

One person is in disbelief that people are still judging a book by its cover and thinking that looks equal worth.

“Judge people on their looks. So shallow!” they wrote.

9. Trust the government

Several people couldn’t get enough of this one as they talked about the rather interesting political climate of 2024 and their overall pessimism.

10. Have a landline

Before cell phones became the rage in the 2000s, it was all about landlines. These big, bulky, and brilliant babies were in every household, but now, seeing one in someone’s house is quite outdated.
