Every year when August comes around and ends, people begin to wrap up their summer gear and store it away. The fall comes upon us pretty quickly, with sweaters and boots making their way out of the closet. Before we know it, people are pulling out their pumpkins and hay to decorate their homes with.
However, some skip right over all of that decor to make their way into December. For some people, the end of summer means it’s time to pull that Christmas tree out of the attic and get to decorating it.
Although Christmas is in December, some people like to start earlier
September, for a lot of individuals, is a good way to break in that “holiday spirit.” For some, the holiday spirit means that Halloween and Thanksgiving decorations make their way out of the closet. But, others decide to get December started earlier and break out Christmas trees.
Mariah Carey begins to blast through their speakers and they sip on some eggnog, probably on sale, before the masses flock to buy it.
Some TikTok users believe it’s the right time to start the season
@bobbiejochristmas, a TikTok user who starts decorating in September, shared this sentiment. She shared a video on her TikTok page of her Christmas tree that she has already put up in her home, glistening with ornaments and tinsel.
Some people, however, think it’s too early to break out the Christmas stuff
People in the comment section of Bobbie-Jo’s video shared their opinions on it being a bit too soon to throw the tree up.
“NO NO NO IT’S TOO SOON,” one person exclaimed.
“I’m a big Halloween lover, and on November 1 I go absolutely wild with Christmas stuff, best time of the year,” shared another person online.
Others shared that it “ruins Christmas” for them
“Last year I decorated in June, and Christmas was so boring when it finally got their becuase I had already had it all decorated.. so coming from me I’d say atleast wait for Halloween,” commented another TikTok user.
“I need to wait tell mid November, I think 1st November,” said another.
Many also found it to be annoying
“I love Christmas but I think I’d be super bored by December and frustrated with the cats and kids knocking it over or pulling things off,” one person pointed out.
Others echoed this, that their “real” Christmas trees end up falling apart and losing their luster by December, as well.
Bobbie-Jo, however, disagrees
She showcased a few videos on her TikTok page, which is dedicated to Christmas content. One of the videos shows a timelapse of her decorating her 2024 Christmas tree, alongside her mom.
Bobbie-Jo has a reason why she loves Christmas
Speaking with Wayfair UK, the Christmas enthusiast shared that Christmas holds a special place in her heart. She explained that she doesn’t celebrate Halloween and skips over the holiday entirely. While some disagree, it’s the way her world works.
She also shared that, “Christmas has always been a big celebration in my family. Growing up, my mum was putting our Christmas trees up in October and we would make a big celebration of it.”
Some people online actually understood
“my mum and dad won’t let me until christmas but i NEED IT,” one TikTok user said.
“IT’S NEVER TOO EARLY,” another commented.
“I was playing Christmas music in August,” shared someone else.
In her comment sections, people do sometimes agree amongst the haters
While some people do argue with Bobbie-Jo, others do come through to have her back and agree with her Christmas craze.
“Literally me just had the kids help me pull our christmas stuff out the cupboard……..EXCITED,” wrote someone who also loves Christmas in the TikTok comments.
And although she has some haters, Bobbie-Jo deals with them all
Bobbie-Jo sees all the haters who come onto her page and have things to say about her and how she lives her life. She laughs at them and claps back at them, too. Mostly, she tells people to do what they want to do and respects her doing what she wants to do.
